HouseChores

Deleting your account and data

HouseChores, a product of MASONBYTE LLC · Accokeek, Maryland
In effect from 2 August 2026.

The short version

You can ask us to delete your account at any time, and we will. There is no self-service delete button yet — deletion is handled by request, and this page tells you how to make one and what will happen.

Deleting your account is not the same as deleting your household's chore board. The difference matters if you share a board with other people, and it is explained below.

How to ask

Email support@masonbyte.com.

Write to us from the email address you sign in with — that is how we know the request is yours — and say whether you want:

We will confirm when it is done.

What deleting your account does

WhatWhat happens
Your sign-in and email addressDeleted. This is the record that identifies you personally. Once it is gone you cannot sign in, and we no longer hold your address.
Feedback you sent usAnonymised. The message stays so we can act on it; the link back to you is removed and cannot be restored.
Your display name and chore history on a shared boardKept by default — see below. Removed on request.

Why your name stays on a shared board unless you ask

A household board is a shared record. If your rows vanished from it, the people you share it with would lose their own history too — chores would show as done by nobody, and the household's record of the last few months would develop holes.

So deleting your account removes the part that is personally identifying — your sign-in and your email — and leaves the household's record of who did what, under the display name your household already sees.

If you want that removed as well, say so and we will remove it. It is your data and you can have it taken out; we simply do not do it automatically, because for most people it would delete somebody else's history as a side effect.

If you own the household

Deleting a household deletes it for everyone in it — its chores, its assignments, its history and its awards. That cannot be undone, and the other people on the board cannot get it back.

Only the person who owns the home now can ask for it to be deleted. That is usually whoever set it up — but if they have handed the home to somebody else, it is the person holding it now. Someone who used to own a board cannot have it deleted after giving it away; the family still using it would lose everything.

If other people are still using the board, you do not have to delete it to step away. You can hand the home to another admin from Manage this home and it keeps working without you — they have to accept, and you stay on as an ordinary admin.

Leaving a household without deleting your account

You can stop being part of a board and keep your account — for a shared house you have moved out of, or a home you were helping with. This is handled by request today, the same as deletion.

How long it takes

We aim to act within 30 days of a request, and usually much sooner. We keep backups for a short while in case something goes wrong, so a copy may linger there briefly after your account is gone — those are overwritten on their normal schedule and are never used to bring a deleted account back.

What we do not do

We do not sell or share your data, we run no analytics and no trackers, and nobody outside your household can see your board. Deleting your account does not require you to give a reason and does not affect anyone else's account.

If you signed in with Google

Deleting your HouseChores account removes the connection between HouseChores and your Google account, and removes the email address we received from it. It does not delete your Google account, which is yours and nothing to do with us. You can also remove HouseChores' access from your Google account's own security settings at any time; doing that stops you signing in, but it does not by itself delete the data we hold, so send us a request as well if that is what you want.
